About

Marianna Taylor is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker certified to practice in Maryland with over 20 years of experience. She is passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families grow in interdependence while moving towards healing and wholeness from an authentically Catholic perspective. She believes her role as a process consultant is to equip clients with the skills they need to have meaningful, lasting relationships while accompanying them with tenderness and compassion. She has gained EFT advanced skills training for couples, certified in Level 1 and 2 Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), and has also gained training with Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), where she works with children, teens, and parents in creating more secure attachments. Her work is greatly informed by the Nurtured Heart Approach. She is a Certified Trainer in the Nurtured Heart Approach and believes wholeheartedly in inspiring the transformative change in parenting through the use of this model specifically designed to strengthen relationships and build the Inner Wealth of the child. She has also gained training in Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) for work with children and adolescents with complex trauma, emotional/special needs, or relationship difficulties. She has also worked extensively with adults and children coping with chronic illnesses, end-of-life issues, as well as grief and loss. She believes optimal growth usually occurs for children when therapeutic work is done with the family/dyads. Marianna received her M.A. from Florida State University in 2005 and also has a B.A. in Elementary Education. Her work is not only informed by her training and experience, but also by her vocations as a wife and a mother to 6 children. She is a military wife of 18+ years and also works with couples and families dealing with separation/reintegration or other military issues. Marianna worked for the Alpha Omega Clinic as a clinician and completed a post graduate externship with Building Families for Children in therapeutic foster care. She has provided workshops and talks on topics such as parenting, technology use, or on the Nurtured Heart Approach for schools and parishes. She co-authored the book "The One Best Thing: A Practical Guide for Raising Families of Faith" and serves on the Content Advisory Board for Ablaze Family Ministries. Marianna looks to the Holy Family as a perfect model for attachment and interdependence. She strives toward St. John Paul II's definition of tenderness in 'Love and Responsibility' where he writes, "Tenderness is the ability to feel with and for the whole person. Tenderness is nothing but the expression of my deep attunement to the beauty and goodness, to the pain and sorrow, to the whole subjective interior state of the other person and their uniqueness as God's beloved and my desire to express my closeness to them in a tangible way." Marianna does not accept insurance, but is able to provide a monthly statement to clients for submission to insurance for reimbursement. She also has a sliding fee-scale based on income and family size where clients may be eligible for a reduced rate. Contact Marianna for a free 15 minute consultation call if you are interested in working with her further.
